New Joint Project between UNDP & PBA
UNDP Deputy Programme Manager Carolyn Graydon and PBA Chairman Adv. Hussein shabaneh by the presence of PBA Council Member Adv. Ahmad Alnatsheh, Joint Project Manager Marrica Kamper and number of executives from both sides signed the agreement of joint project entitled "Quality of legal profession strengthened to enhance community access to justice".
The project will emphasize on:
Enhancing the professional capacities of the practicing lawyers through the continuous education program.
- Supporting the legal aid programs in the bar.
- Raising the level of public awareness concerning the idea of legal aid and
Lawyer profession and Palestinian bar association.
Empowering the female lawyers within the PBA.
The project will be run in its first year with a total budget of $209,000 and will proceed for extra two years.
PBA Chairman Adv. Hussein Shabaneh said that he appreciate the UNDP role in supporting justice and emphasizing the rule of law in Palestine. He added that UNDP and UN Women are doing fascinating efforts in enhancing the competency, capability, and professionalism of Palestinian lawyers through institutional strengthening of the Palestinian Bar Association.
Chairman Shabaneh announced that PBA initiated an administrative unit for planning and managing the funded programs and projects.
