Appointment of a Palestinian Attorney as General Curator at the New York Bar Association:
PBA Chairman Mr. Hussein Shabaneh blessed the appointing of a Palestinian Attorney Zina Aljalad for Secretary-General of the Middle East and North Africa Committee of the New York Bar Association.
He considered the arrival of an Arab Palestinian lawyer to this position is such a unique achievement locally and internationally.
The Middle East and North Africa Commission of the New York Bar Association is competent to deepen the bonds of fellowship between the New York state attorneys and their colleagues in the Arab world, and seeks to enhance the professional cooperation between the New York Bar Association and other Arab unions, and is working to hold conferences and implementation of joint projects aimed to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation between unions.
Attorney Zeina Aljalad is a Palestinian practicing lawyer specialized in criminal law and Gender Studies. She worked in the Palestinian Bar Association as a director of the largest program funded by the European Union for the development of the Bar Association. She also worked at Bir-zeit University as instructor of criminal law. She holds a master's degree in international criminal law from Columbia University in the United States.
She received a grant to complete the doctoral graduate study at the Faculty of Law at Columbia University.
