 PBA and the European Union celebrated the conclusion of the European grant:

A ceremony organized by Palestinian Bar Association held on Thursday, August 21st, 2014 at Best Eastern Hotel, Ramallah to celebrate the conclusion of the project entitled " Strengthen the Capacity of Lawyers and the Development of the Legal Profession", funded by the European Union.

 PBA Chairman Mr. Hussein Shabaneh, a representative of the European Union Mr. John Gatt-Rutter, Minister Hassan Alaoura, the Legal Adviser of the Palestinian President, PBA Board Members, the grant Steering Committee members, and members from the donor community attended the ceremony.


The ceremony began with PBA Chairman speech .He expressed his gratitude to the European Union for their support to PBA. He said the grant helped in developing the status of the legal profession, through the massive training programs conducted and participated by both trainees and practicing lawyers .He added education activities carried out by the grant during the previous three years were very efficient. He wished a continuation of such support to proceed in affording quality training to PBA members.

By the end of his speech he denounced Israeli crimes against our people in Gaza and affirmed PBA support to the Palestinians' Leadership in its efforts to protect our people's rights.

 European Union representative Mr.Gatt-Rutter in his speech reviewed the grant's achievements .He pointed to the developments that reached by uplifting the legal profession, and by implementing various activities targeted all segments of the Palestinian society in general and the lawyers sector in particular.

Manager of the European grant Mr. Jamil Shehadeh explained all the parts and the stages of the grant's achievements. He stressed on the development of circuit training, technical office, and computer department. He also pointed out the opportunities of PBA for more development in the light of the achievements of the grant, and called upon donors to further support the union at this stage.

Finally he counted the following achievements of the Grant:

1-Standardized training for trainees lawyers program   

entitled (diploma).

2- The Continuous Education Program.

3- PBA publications.

4- Public Awareness Activities.

5- Portal Launching and Activation.
